What video card do you guys think I should get for my new gaming computer?
Its built solely for hardcore gaming, thats its only purpose. My price limit, 400. Now hit me with it.

| I don't have any complaints with my GeForce 7800GT. It runs Oblivion at maximum graphics settings, which is quite a feat. However, I'm by no means an expert. Gamespot.com seems to prefer ATI cards. |

I had only understood video cards over the summer, when I started playing Oblivion. I would have to agree with Genja, but I am also not familiar with ATI cards either. _________________ .:sp3ct3rs and d34dm3n:. ||| F4LL4CY |||

| Well you guys seem to know more than me, since I have no idea what a video card looks like or what to do with it when I buy it. But I'll check out the card you guys referenced. |
From what I understand--an let me emphasize that I am very much a novice about hardware--there are three types of video cards: PCI, PCI Express, and AGP. Of these, I have been told by those more informed than I that PCIe is currently the best, and the PCI is obselete. However, my informant implied that as the technology develops, the balance between PCIe and AGP could shift.
Also, some computers only have a PCIe or AGP slot (or both). Most comps have PCIe (express, right?), and most GeForce cards are PCIe (I saw the 7800 at Best Buy, I'm pretty sure it was PCIe).
EDIT: Uh oh...My bad Genja, I didnt mean to edit your post....Ment to post my own. Really sorry. |

Shuyinn recently bought an Nvidia GeForce 7600 for $170 and he says it's great, if you would care to save a few dollars you might want to go with that. _________________ .:sp3ct3rs and d34dm3n:. ||| F4LL4CY |||
